STEM Consultant | Introductory Calculus

Provided one-on-one academic support for 20+ Introductory Calculus students, and led weekly small-group sessions (6–9 students) focused on mathematical reasoning and problem-solving. Supported students saw a 15% average increase in exam scores.

Organizations

Furman University Women in Economics (FUWIE) | Career Initiatives Coordinator

FUWIE is a student-led organization that fosters a strong community for women interested in economics at Furman University. As the Career Initiatives Coordinator, I am responsible for organizing career-focused events, workshops, and professional development opportunities for our members.

Last year, FUWIE organized its first career trek to Atlanta, attended by 15 students. The trip gave students the opportunity to connect with alumni and industry professionals, explore different career paths in economics, and gain exposure to professional work environments. During the trek, we visited the PwC and Mather Economics offices, where students learned more about careers in consulting, economics, and data-driven decision-making.

In addition to the career trek, FUWIE hosted several workshops and professional development sessions designed to strengthen students’ career readiness, including networking, career exploration, and other skills that prepare students for internships and future employment.

Furman Economics Society (FES) | Vice President

The Furman Economics Society (FES) is a student-led organization at Furman University that creates opportunities for students to engage with economics beyond the classroom. As Vice President, I help organize events, workshops, and educational programs while also connecting with faculty and alumni to bring guest speakers and professional perspectives to our members.

One of our key initiatives is hosting Cultural Life Programs (CLPs) that explore how economics connects to current events and broader social issues. Past programs have examined topics such as the economic impact of a government shutdown and the effects of inflation on the economy, helping students understand how economic concepts apply to real-world challenges.

FES also serves as a space for students to build meaningful connections with faculty, alumni, and professionals. Through guest speakers, discussions, and events, we aim to strengthen students' understanding of economics while exposing them to different academic and career opportunities.

Mathematics Student Advisory Board (MSAB) | Member

As a member of the MSAB, I help organize events and workshops for the organization that connect math and the broader community. I am also responsible for connecting with faculty and students by hosting events and workshops. We have hosted alumni panels, picnic, study day, halloween, pi day, and more. This is a great opportunity for me to build up an inclusive and supportive math community on campus.

Girls Who Code | Member

This club is great place for me to connect with students who are interested in coding and computer science. I am able to help them with their projects and provide them with resources to help them succeed. I am also able to help them with their career preparation by connecting them with alumni and professionals in the field.

Heller Service Corps — Lady of Distinction recipient | Member

Heller Service Corps allows me to give back to the local community by volunteering with different organizations and service initiatives. As a Lady of Distinction recipient, I have had the opportunity to spend time with younger girls, share my college experiences, and offer advice as they think about their own futures.

Through these conversations, I have learned just as much from them as they have from me. Their curiosity, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn have encouraged me to reflect on my own journey and the experiences that have shaped me. I especially enjoy answering their questions about college, education, and opportunities beyond their current environment while encouraging them to explore their interests and believe in what they can achieve.

This experience has strengthened my commitment to mentorship and community service and has shown me how meaningful it can be to support younger students as they grow and begin imagining their own paths.
